ITF 8 dan (degree)

ITF was founded on Mars 22d 1966 in Seoul, Korea by General Choi Hong Hi in cooperation with nine member countries: Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Germany, USA, Turkey, Italy, Egypt and Korea.

The main purpose to establish the federation was to together spread Tae Kwon-Do and it's teachings boundless over the whole world, regardless culture, religion or other barriers.

In the year of 1972 ITF's headquarters were moved to Toronto, Canada to that the mission to spread Tae Kwon-Do over the rest of the world would continue.

1985 the headquarters were moved once again, this time to: Vienna in Austria so that the Tae Kwon-Do would have a chance to come closer to the Eastern parts of Europe and the third world.

Since General Choi´s passing there has been much confusion and problems have been arising in the ITF, most of the problems have been created by unethical peoples who are not following the will of the General. Despite this, the ITF is continuing to make steady progress. Loyal members have united and are proud to support the steps taken by the ITF to continue General Choi´s legacy. To implement the last wishes of General Choi, following Mr.Chang Ung, the new president of the original ITF. It has national associations in over 100 countries worldwide affiliated to it.

There are mainly two breakaway groups today; one is headed by Master Tran Trieu Quan as its President. And its strength is based mainly in Europe. The other is formed by General Choi´s son Master Choi Jung Hwa.
